I don't believe for a second they are piping in crowd noise to 'enhance' the atmosphere.
It'd be so obvious to everyone in the stands.
Of course there's a crowd noise coming from the videos they play, along with music. But that's something entirely different.
As for empty seats, I reckon the people that purchased the tickets for them need a bit more fucking backbone, new fans or old.

Yes SG they've done that for a few years now in the build up to every game, not just for TV and not to make out that the atmosphere is better than it is.

as far as I'm aware, the 'piped in crowd noise' is off the videos that they play in advance of games. Did it at the Boleyn as well.
Not that it makes the worst stadium in the country any better of course, just on this occasion its slightly unfair.

I've just googled and at least 2 of the results that come up link to deleted articles.
I'm necessarily not saying it's untrue, btw. Absolutely nothing West Ham do would surprise me.

the reports are suggesting that crowd noise was being played before the game, to create atmosphere in the build up to the KO, not during the game.
